‌Faith-filled guidance for the homeschool path

About

Hi, I’m Beth—homeschool consultant, educator, and fellow homeschooling parent. I bring both professional training and real-life experience to families who want clarity, confidence, and peace in their homeschool journey.

I hold a B.A. in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Education, and I’ve spent years working with children from infancy through high school. My background includes classroom teaching, special education, and serving as a Children’s Ministry Director, which has given me a deep understanding of how children learn, grow, and thrive—academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Most importantly, I’ve walked the homeschool path myself. I have homeschooled my three children, navigating the challenges, questions, and joys that come with educating your own kids. I understand firsthand that homeschooling is not one-size-fits-all, and I’m passionate about helping families find approaches that fit their unique children, values, and seasons of life.

My heart is to support parents with practical guidance, encouragement, and personalized strategies so they can homeschool with confidence and purpose. You don’t have to figure it all out alone—I’m here to help.

My Homeschool Journey

My husband and I both grew up attending public schools, and for many years it never occurred to us that there might be another way to educate our children. When our oldest son was five, we enrolled him in kindergarten, just as we were expected to do. He had a wonderful Christian teacher, and the school was conveniently located right across the street from our home.

Even so, something didn’t sit right with me. I felt his absence all day long, and as the year progressed, I noticed him experimenting with behaviors he was picking up from other children. More than anything, my deepest desire was for our children to grow up loving God, immersed in His Word, and accepting Jesus’ gift of salvation.

Private school was not financially possible for our family, which left us with one other option—homeschooling. After much prayer and careful consideration, we stepped out in faith and began our homeschool journey.

We were anything but confident. We questioned our ability to teach our children everything they would need to be successful in life, and we worried that homeschooling might leave them socially awkward or unprepared. Living on one income meant we had very little money to spend on curriculum, so I relied heavily on the library, my own imagination, used bookstores, and curriculum hand-me-downs. At the time, we didn’t know many other homeschooling families, so we leaned on church activities and extended family to help meet our children’s social needs.

Over the years, we learned an important lesson: homeschooling does not need to resemble public school. In fact, it worked far better for our family when it didn’t. Our children learned not only academics, but also valuable life skills—managing finances, entrepreneurship, gardening, carpentry, cake decorating, and even flying an airplane—through independent learning, family mentorship, and community opportunities. They also avoided much of the stress and anxiety often associated with school. We were able to spend more time together as a family, plan our lives around my husband’s work schedule rather than a school calendar, and enjoy the freedom to travel during the off-season, making family trips more affordable and meaningful.

In the end, our fears proved unnecessary. All three of our children went on to be successful in college and careers. Most importantly, they love Jesus—and today, they are homeschooling their own children.

This journey shaped our family in ways we never could have imagined, and it’s why I’m passionate about helping other families confidently find a homeschool path that fits their values, their children, and their calling.
